All rumours and reports have indicated the upcoming OnePlus 8 Pro to have support for wireless charging – a feature that’s more a prerequisite than a want when considering the price of the Pro variant. Now, just a week before the launch of the phone, more details on the “the OnePlus Warp Charge 30 Wireless Charger” have surfaced.

The Wireless Charger that OnePlus plans to launch alongside its flagship doesn’t seem to be just another wireless charger. Having made customers wait so long for wireless charging, it seems like OnePlus is leaving no stone unturned with its first-ever wireless charger.

TechDroider reports that the wireless charger will have a 30W output that will charge the OnePlus 8 Pro from 0 to 50% in just about 30 minutes. A full charge is said to take about 80 minutes, which certainly isn’t bad for a wireless charger.

Also, this wireless charger isn’t a flat mat but will instead be a dock that will host the phone upright. Famed leaker Evan Blass even shared some official-looking images of the wireless charger to give us an idea of what we might see next week.

The wireless charging dock graces a coat of white while its sides are painted in a coat of white. Surprisingly, OnePlus’s signature red branding is missing here. The wireless charging has a pedestal up, front for the phone to be placed. Resting below is an LED indicator.

To keep things cool, the wireless charger also has a cooling fan. The fan is said to have support for “AI Sleep Mode” that will switch off the fan – a cause of noise – at night. While there’s no further information, it’d be interesting to see if this mode also controls the wattage flow for these night-charging sessions. Additionally, the wireless charger is said to have dust detection and overheating protection.

OnePlus, with its Pro series of smartphones, has inched its way up the value chain to now compete with other premium flagship phones from brands like Samsung, Huawei and Apple. Although, two things its phones have been missing out on are wireless charging and IP certification. But that’s about to change with the OnePlus 8 Pro. The OnePlus 8 Pro is expected to be IP68 certified and, as mentioned above, will have support for 30W wireless charging.

The OnePlus 8 series will be announced globally on April 14.
