Sanjay Gupta just took us back to the eighties and not in a good way! To a time when ‘when Bombay was not yet Mumbai’ and ‘when violence ruled the streets.’ Yeah, not a fan of either! The director of films like Kaante, Musafir has decided to dish out another film of his favourite men muscle and violence genre and sorry, but this one doesn’t even look entertaining! Titled Mumbai Saga, the newest crime drama in his filmography stars John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi is lead roles. While Abraham plays the kohl-laced don Amartya Rao ‘who rose from the streets’ to ‘rule Mumbai’ and is up against Emraan Hashmi’s kadap cop who has made his way out of ‘Ghettos of Bombay’. Yes, a lot of dialoguebaazi, signature green filter and loads of mainstream masala; nothing we have never seen before.
Apart from the two, the period film also features Suniel Shetty, Mahesh Manjrekar, Gulshan Grover, Jackie Shroff, Prateik Babbar, Amole Gupta and Rohit Roy. Talk about flexing muscle power and machoism.
Earlier, Hashmi had said in a statement, “An encounter specialist, he can put a bullet into someone if it accomplishes his motive. He is a badass character in a dog-eats-dog kind of world wherein this guy is the wolf. No one would imagine that I am playing a cop, but for this policeman, he is, as I said, like a gangster. Be it by fair or unfair means, he will bring down the guy he is going for. So, it’s kind of home turf, but it’s a very entertaining pitch for a character in a pure Sanjay Gupta style, who has created his own brand of cinema. And as an actor, I am always up for doing something different.”

Apparently, the film also stars Kajal Aggarwal who sadly didn’t even get featured in the teaser and that says a lot about the kind of lop-sided film it’s going to because it’s already won the race of the most cliched crime drama. Cause if she did, it’s blind-and-miss. Yes, you can say all that by the teaser.
The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series, Krishan Kumar, Anuradha Gupta, Sangeeta Ahir. Mumbai Saga it is all set to release theatrically on March 19.
