The folks over at Yash Raj Films are planning something big! The production house hasn’t made any major strides during the coronavirus pandemic leaving fans to speculate endlessly on the release dates of their upcoming movies. The most anticipated titles include Pathan, Tiger 3, Prithviraj and Shamshera among others. Most movies have been in the pipeline for a while with impending updates. The production house is celebrating a 50-year-long run in the Indian film industry and while we didn’t get fresh news since then, fans can expect a sneak peek into their plans. YRF will soon release a showreel announcing their upcoming projects in celebration of completing 50 years.

As per a Pinkvilla report, an announcement is coming soon and it involves films starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn and basically every Bollywood A-lister out there. Their source revealed, “A special showreel is being prepared for the big screen to celebrate the YRF films till date, and in the same showreel, announce their slate of upcoming films, which includes films with Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Ajay Devgn, and Vicky Kaushal among others. It will be a grand video celebrating cinema, and some visuals from these forthcoming films are also expected,”

The showreel, promising a big-screen spectacle is expected to arrive in theatres when the box offices are up and running again. Confirming that there are new movies to look forward to, they further added, “Apart from the announcement of fresh films, one can expect an update on the existing films like Prithviraj, Jayeshbhai Jordaar and Shamshera in the same showreel,”

So far we know that Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone are gearing up for Siddharth Anand directorial Pathan which is eyeing a Diwali release this year, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif are set to return for Tiger 3 while Vicky Kaushal and Manushi Chillar will star in a currently untitled project. These are just a few of the films with release dates yet to be announced.

While YRF hasn’t given official confirmation on the showreel, the update suggests that the production giant’s plans rely heavily on theatrical releases. While several film companies have moved to streaming services, sending some of their biggest titles straight to digital platforms, YRF seems to be hoping for theatres to finally open up this year. Well, we’re still in the middle of a pandemic with theatres shuttered across the globe. So it remains to be seen how theatre owners’ plans align and if audiences are ready to return to the big screens.
