Earlier today, Britain gave the whole world good news after it became the first country in the world to approve a COVID-19 vaccine for public use. One that will roll out early next week. And if you still aren’t convinced, I come bearing another sign that indicates that we might actually get back to normal and the new normal can go take a hike! While intellectuals still discuss if the normal is worth getting back to, the lesser mortals are just happy that they will finally be able to step outside the bounds of self-isolation without risking one’s life. But while that is that, cinephiles are equally happy if not more because the biggest annual film award is reclaiming its earlier glory!

If you haven’t heard it yet, the 2021 Oscars will not be a virtual, zoom-enabled event. Instead, and despite speculations, the 93rd Academy Awards will host nominees albeit with precautions, reports Variety. The dates of the gala were pushed to April 25, 2021, eight weeks later its usual date owing to the Coronavirus pandemic, to the dismay of many. But seems like it was all worth it.

It will definitely give more time more cinemas to reopen, conduct business and evidently facilitate more movies to compete in the coveted fare of films. However, even if theatres don’t hop back, the Academy is determined to pull off this year’s celebration that will entertain feature film entries till February 28, 2021.

“The Oscars in-person telecast will happen,” a representative from the Academy and ABC told Variety. However, it remains to be seen how and what safety measures will be implemented in the due process. “The Academy has done a walkthrough of the Dolby recently to see all the multiple options,” added a publicist. Hinting, that there might be tweaks in the way the Oscars will accommodate its guests at the venue, the 3,400-seat Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, Jallikattu, is India’s official entry in the Best International Feature Film category and Shameless has made the race in the Live Action Short Film Category. Now, we cross all the fingers we have for the unveiling of the nominations that will be announced on March 15.
