“It isn’t over just because you are over it!” And its’s something I like to remind myself and peeps around me cause the pandemic has unleashed a second wave that nobody saw coming. In fact, Mumbai recently recorded the highest single-day spike in cases since the start of the pandemic and that says something. On Wednesday itself, the city reported a spike of over 5,394 new cases including 15 deaths, reports Times of India. Now, while the Maharashtra government has slashed the price of RT-PCR rate and is pondering over a second lockdown, another Bollywood biggies has tested positive for Coronavirus. And it’s none other than legendary singer and music director Bappi Lahiri.
According to a Bollywood Hungama report, the veteran musician has been admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital where he is under observation. His spokesperson confirmed the news and was quoted saying, “Despite utmost precautions, unfortunately, Mr Bappi Lahiri has tested positive for Covid 19. He is under very good & expert care at the Breach Candy Hospital. Bappi dada’s family requests all those who came in contact with him in the recent past should get themselves tested as a precautionary measure.”
The statement also added that “he seeks blessings and wishes of his fans, friends & everyone from India and abroad. On behalf of Bappi Da, we passing his message to all his well-wishers and fans to stay healthy, stay blessed.”
Earlier, Lahiri had registered himself for the vaccine and had shared, “As soon as I found out that us over 60’s and those aged between 45-59 with a specified co-morbidity are now able to get our jab booked in, I felt a sense of relief that the end to this pandemic is in sight. It was quick & simple to register at Cowin.gov.in (link in bio) and I urge all of my friends in this age bracket to do the same!
“Please pre-register in advance as this is much more efficient than walk-ins, which should be after 3pm. Just take your Aadhaar card, voter or any government ID which has your photo, gender and date of birth.” It is unsure if the musical maestro has received his jab but here’s hoping that he recovers completely and soon.
